So Are Merchants and Retailers on the Ball About the New Credit Card Chip Technology?

The short answer is NO. But #ITPN  isn't sweating, and neither should you. After all, this transition from magnetic strip to computer chip will be relatively seamless except for the headaches many businesses will have to face as they struggle with the question: invest in the new technology, or face the prospect of dealing with credit card fraud? Tough question….

As it stands, only about a quarter of all merchants in the U.S. utilize those new chip-card readers. That data comes from MasterCard, of course. But it's been mentioned that it could take as late as the end of 2017 before we start seeing all stores, businesses, gas stations and maybe even ATMs utilizing the new technology successfully.

Long time to wait…. But at least you have nothing to worry about until then!

Credit Card Chip Technology: It’s Going to Take Awhile

Keep in mind that this is going to be a DRASTIC change as you find your plastic incorporating credit card chip technology. But that’s a good thing!

Businesses have to be keen on this new development in the financial stratosphere when you’re thinking about it, for plenty of reasons. Aside from the fact that the transition to credit card chip technology will incorporate a nationwide spread of new card-reading machines (more investment for businesses, unfortunately), there’s one other subject companies everywhere would love to learn more about: identity theft.

Will This New Credit Card Chip Technology Protect More?

Good question. This doesn’t just revolve around the consumer, but the business. Ever lend your business credit card to the intern? Not a smart move…. You can imagine just how important it is to ensure that credit card fraud never steps foot into your business, and the concept of someone stealing somebody’s information — either customer, client, or business — is earth-shattering at best.

However, the computer chip raises a beautiful question. Hackers don’t care. A chip can be hacked into. credit card chip technology-1But everyone’s saying that this new credit card chip technology’s going to change the landscape as far as credit card fraud and ID theft is concerned (it’s already happening a ton overseas where EMV’s been changing the way people spend money).

Here’s why credit card chip technology will make things better — the main problem with the magnetic strip credit card is the fact that the strip holds all the data and it never changes. That means if anyone ever gets a hold of your one little strip (they don’t even need to steal the card) and copies it (that’s really all they need to do), you can go about your life still having your card (no one stole it!) while some ID thief runs around with a copycat card, spending all your money.

That magnetic strip is a prime target for ID theft.

What the computer chip-enabled card does, however, is allow the user to swipe it, have the machine read it; and the chip itself develops a unique ‘transaction code’ that can never be used again. It, therefore, means, you can buy 15 separate candy bars, the card will read it 15 separate times, and each time will be virtually unique from every other time.

Not one thief would be able to steal your information. Each transaction is encoded through the chip and never gets stored anywhere. It’s processed and then dies a lovely death in cyberspace, basically. Therefore, your information can’t ever be pulled from the card.

Of Course, These ID Thieves Are Resourceful!

The hope is the new credit card chip technology will change the way credit card fraud happens. As in never. But the problem with ID theft is there’s always a way. It’s like that bad penny always turning up. The good news is that this new development will certainly make it easier for Ultimate Identity Protection and other partners to do what they do best. Will Donald Trump’s New Tax Plan Cost the Government Trillions of Dollars?

#DonaldTrump  is anything but timid, ladies and gentlemen. He's not afraid to go for the jugular. But at what risk? We're talking about tons and tons of money here. Taxes. It costs a lot to run a government, let alone agencies providing all sorts of services, government funds, municipalities, that sort of thing — and that money comes from US. The taxpayers.

So, yes, when Donald Trump ambitiously proposes these wicked tax cuts, eradicating all sorts of taxes like the estate tax, the death tax, and the astronomical corporate tax that currently sits at a hefty 35%, bringing that down to a nice 15% for not only corporations, but small businesses and sole proprietors, what will that do for the cost of implementing this new tax plan allowing the crazy 0% tax bracket?

You don't want to know…. And limiting those deductions won't help much either.

Donald, you're asking the government to add on more national debt. And we all know that the phrase 'national debt' is, in and of itself, a sort of a RACIAL SLUR!

We love the ambition and aggressiveness. We're just scared of drowning in that national debt of ours.

3 Reasons Why Donald Trump Could Kill the Economy

Are we talking about that new tax plan proposal of Donald Trump? Yes. Why do we think that it could potentially kill the economy? Read on to find out!

Seriously, the LGBT workplace will know no bounds thanks to this computer company (among many others if you click the link below. IBM is one of them, harnessing a massive workforce of well over 431K back in 2013.

We're talking about a lot of revenue, too, as this is a company that reportedly spent $1B just to restructure their entire workforce. Them supporting the LGBT community? That can only be great news.

Worry Not About LGBT Workplace Discrimination

We recently seen the news about Kim Davis, Pope Francis, and the gay marriage thing, so everyone’s worried about workplace discrimination. Fear not, though!

How #IDTheft  Can Turn Into a #CPS  Nightmare

Only with identity theft can your life turn into a fiasco ripe for a family political drama about drugs and drug trafficking. Like being at the movies. Think of the worst situation ever where you're minding your own business at home and you get a call about your baby born with methamphetamine. Can it happen to you? Yes, it can — if you don't have UIP protecting you.

Meet Anndorie Sachs, a mother of four, enrolled in the University of Utah, going about her routine when she receives a rather troubling phone call from Child Protective Services about her newborn baby(?). This presents a problem; because that newborn baby tested positive for drugs. Makes her a bad mother, don't you think? Except for one important piece of truth: SHE DIDN'T GIVE BIRTH TO ANY BABY RECENTLY.

The sad fact is that CPS didn't believe her, drag her through a difficult investigative process until it was discovered that Sachs' car was broken into, her driver's license stolen, and used at a hospital to confirm identity by, you guessed it, a pregnant meth addict. You can see the pieces of this cinema puzzle falling into place now….

Sadly, even after proof was submitted, CPS refused to believe that Sachs wasn't the mother of this poor child born positive with drugs. That is, until she willingly submitted to a DNA test, proving who she was all along. Of course, that didn't stop the hospital from charging Sachs with the bill — $10K in expenses for the baby she DIDN'T deliver on the day she DIDN'T go to the hospital.

Yes, Even a Reputable Dentist Can Commit #IDTheft From Right Under Your Nose

This story will puzzle you — because it's ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous. But it DID happen. And, luckily, the damage was minor, but this prove to you just how unexpected identity theft can be. You don't have to be a real "criminal" to commit to it.

You can be Dr. Richard Ludwig, a dentist making upwards of $4MM and with $250 in cash in pocket; yet this genius was absolutely dumb enough to steal a poor man's credit card accidentally dropped onto a parking lot after leaving the site and use it buy $40 worth of pizzas.

Of course, the unsuspecting victim found out that he was missing his credit card and then reported the plastic stolen. Yet the credit card company notified him that the card was already used. Needless to say, the victim reported the crime to the authorities and the cops showed up at the pizza place to find the dumb dentist Ludwig still waiting for his pizzas to bake.

Ludwig was apparently charged with three felonies, a consequence that could land him in jail for up to 15 years. All of that for just $40 worth of pizzas.

And he honestly could've paid for them himself!

Yes, With #IDTheft, You Now Can Be LEGALLY Married to Multiple People!

We wouldn't advise that as a good idea, though…. After all, you not only would have legal repercussions, but PERSONAL ones as well. Still, you could be the hapless victim like one Rosa Vargas of Queens, NY, who found out, much to her dismay, that she was actually married to two men, one from Mexico, and one from Ecuador.

And to make it even worse, she was filing for marriage with the city clerk only to be denied after finding out. That's not something you want to have to break to your fiance. Of course, you can just go to another district and file there, because there wouldn't be similar records anywhere else. The couple got married (even though she was legally married to two other men. One from Mexico, and the other from Ecuador. Just wanted to repeat that one more time.).

The story didn't stop there, though, as Vargas received divorce papers five years later from the Ecuadorian husband she never met. It was later found out that Vargas had lost her birth certificate a decade and a half ago, and within that time, her information was utilized TWICE — by two different women. Probably as a way to scam for immigration and allow those women into the U.S.

The sad thing is while Vargas eventually was able to get those fake marriages removed legally, she has since discovered that she's, in fact, married to a third man in Long Island. At least it's nowhere near Mexico or Ecuador.

#IDTheft: This Message Will Self-Destruct in Ten Seconds

Yes, in real life as well as the silver screen with exploding trains, scaling windows, bombs, fight scenes, and motorcycle chase sequences can identity theft occur in the worst way, and when a Wichita, KS, man decided to go into a police station and report as an "undercover agent" assuming the identity of a local homeowner, you'd think the cops would start asking questions.

Thankfully, they did. A unit was sent to the house to find that same man, the "undercover agent," living there like normal under the guise of the stolen name — of which the REAL homeowner had been absent for several months due to caring for a sick mother in another town. All without that poor man knowing about his stolen property.

Self-destruct, indeed.
